The Business and Professional Women’s Club of Winnipeg Central (BPW Winnipeg Central) develops the professional, leadership and business potential of women on all levels through advocacy, mentoring, personal development, networking, skill building and economic empowerment programs and projects, both locally and around the world.
IN OUR OWN BACKYARD
This year, BPW Winnipeg Central has chosen to concentrate on programs and projects in our own city and community thus our theme for 2009-2010 is “In Our Own Backyard”.
Chartered on March 30th, 2006, BPW Winnipeg Central is part of The Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs (BPW Canada) as well as being part of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, with clubs in more than 100 countries around the world. Our International Federation has Category I Consultative Status at the United Nations.
Our National membership model revolves around four key areas of activity, including:
- Awareness, advocacy and action
- Leadership skills and career advancement
- Personal Development
- Supportive networking and lasting friendships
BPW Winnipeg Central’s mandate is to develop the professional & leadership potential of women, starting locally, in our own backyard, focussing on three main areas:
- Women in Politics - To help all women understand the basics of politics, including the different political parties and their platforms, encouraging women to go out and vote & supporting all women who wish to be more involved in politics.
- Individual’s Involvement - Encourage, guide and support all women through their transition to reaching their goals.
- Empowerment for all Women - We want to help women feel they can make a difference and that their opinion counts. This will be done through self improvement, self awareness & inspirational stories of women whose empowerment overcame and conquered their personal situation. Girl Power/Girls Rule.
